I watched the presidential debate last night, like many of you did, mouth-opened, shocked but not surprised, at the behavior displayed by the President. Not following agreed-upon instructions, constant interrupting, lack of empathy regarding Biden's son who died.
And once again, side-mouthing illegal instructions, this time to Proud Boys, "a far-right neo-fascist male-only organization that promotes and engages in political violence. It is based in the United States and has a presence in Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom"-Wikipedia
to "stand back and stand by" at in-person polling places is illegal (no one other than poll workers are allowed to congregate in polling places) and an attempt to intimidate and threaten voters. Another reason to have voting take place in the privacy in one's home.
I have learned, in the last 2 1/2 years I've been involved in County Government, that governing means listening, with empathy and compassion, to what residents need. Not only those who voted for me, but all residents. Leading is not a mean sport, it's about kindness toward others, while using knowledge and experience to make the best decision available at the time. If you don't believe that, this is not the path for you.
I would hope all of us involved in our government agree.
